Philodendron 'Majestic' is an extraordinary hybrid that combines the velvety texture of Philodendron verrucosum with the shimmering silvery hues of Philodendron sodiroi .
This rare philodendron makes a truly majestic appearance, combining the most attractive features of its parents: the large heart-shaped leaves, their velvety texture and the delicate, silvery variegation. The underside of the leaves also shimmers in a beautiful shade of red as new shoots emerge.
Botanical description
The genus name Philodendron comes from the Greek and combines "philo" (loving) and "dendron" (tree), a reference to the natural climbing tendencies.
Named by Neil Crafter, its exact origins remain unknown, but its widespread popularity among collectors is undeniable.
Care
Philodendron 'Majestic' prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun exposure which can burn its delicate leaves. Best suited to bright, indirect light with climbing support such as a moss stake. This helps the plant develop larger, more impressive leaves.
Allow the top 2-3 centimeters of soil to dry between waterings. Overwatering can cause root rot. Ensure well-drained soil and a pot with drainage holes .
Maintain temperatures between 18-25°C.
Use a well-drained mixture of perlite and orchid bark for optimal root health, such as our aroid mix . Repot every 1-2 years or when the roots outgrow the pot.
Water with balanced liquid fertilizer for houseplants, diluted to about 1/2 of the specified dose.
